What should I expect during my first session?
In the first session, we’ll have a chat about our therapeutic contract and confidentiality. After this, I’ll be curious about how you’re feeling about therapy and we can talk about what brought you her and any goals you have or areas you’d like to focus on.

How long does therapy take?
This is tricky to answer as it varies so much from one person to the next. You may start to feel you’ve had everything you need from the process in the space of two months, perhaps you’ll get there after two years! We’ll have regular check-ins to see how you’re finding the sessions and whether they’re helpful for you. You can leave when it feels right for you.

How much do sessions cost?
Sessions are priced at £50. I offer concessionary rates for students/low income earners, which are £38. I want my practice to be accessible, therefore if you want to work with me but are concerned about the cost, I’m open to having a discussion about it to see if we can come to agreement that’s doable for us both.

How do I know if therapy is working?
Understanding new aspects of yourself, responding to challenges differently, setting boundaries, better communication, improvement in relationships and feeling more confident could be some examples. It could also look like feeling heard, validated and understood. We’ll talk about what you want/need from therapy in our first session, so perhaps you could refer back to that when considering if therapy is working.

How often should I attend therapy?
Weekly sessions are encouraged for the early part of our work. This gives us a good chance to get familiar and build a strong therapeutic foundation. However, I appreciate that might not be affordable both financially and in terms of time. Many clients opt for fortnightly sessions, with some eventually attending monthly.

How do I choose the right therapist?
Choosing the right therapist is so important for you to feel comfortable to be vulnerable. I, like many other therapists, offer a free introduction call. This is a good opportunity to get a sense for whether you think a therapist will be a good fit for you. Get in touch if you’d like to book a call. If you’ve already started therapy and decided that it isn’t the right fit for you, that’s okay. It can be a trial and error process until finding the right one!
